For those of you that haven’t heard, Chief Shook was injured earlier today (Sunday) on the job. He fell and hit his head and was taken by ground to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The information we have so far is that he had a CT after he arrived at the hospital and they have found a subarachnoid bleed. They are going to wait and do another CT at 11:00pm tonight to check his progress.
At this time, they are saying that he will be at Shock Trauma at least one night and one day. Kim and Matthew are with him now and plan to stay with him overnight.
That’s all the information that we have at this point. Updates will be provided as they become available.
Please keep Chief Shook, Kim and Matthew in your thoughts and prayers.
Deputy Chief Grossnickle can be reached at 240-674-1544.
Update on Chief Shook…
Just received good news that the 2nd CT performed late this evening shows improvement.
Since Shock Trauma is very busy tonight, Shooky has not yet been assigned a room.
Kim and Matthew are staying close by at a local hotel for the night.
Will keep everyone updated as new information becomes available.

Also, they may be contacting you to have you serve on their committee. Either way we need dedicated members to help direct the mission of the Company. Thank you, 2010 Committees It is with deep regret and sadness that I am announcing the passing of Director Melvin Phillips. Melvin had a stroke 9 days ago. Last night and this morning, Melvin had appeared to be improving, but started having trouble breathing and went into cardiac arrest this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Shirley and the family. Shirley is also Chaplain of our Auxiliary. Melvin was one of our very first members from Point of Rocks. He was instrumental in helping to start providing emergency services to the area. Melvin regularly ran calls with Special Unit 28 before the new station was built. Melvin also assisted with overseeing the construction of Station 28. In the last several years Melvin was on the building committee for new Station 14. He spent many hours in meetings with Chief Ed Johnson and myself. I will never forget the dedication, assistance and support that he gave to me. Melvin had retired from Frederick County Health Department several years ago. We have lost much more than a Member and a Director of Carroll Manor Fire Company, we have also lost a great person, family man, and a dear friend.
